Delta chief operations officer departing for one more firm

Delta Air Lines‘ chief working officer is leaving on the finish of the month, the corporate mentioned in a securities submitting Friday.

CEO Ed Bastian mentioned in an worker memo that Chief Working Officer Mike Spanos is taking a job at one other firm.

His departure, after just over a year on the job, comes weeks after Delta suffered a meltdown within the wake of the large CrowdStrike outage in July. Delta estimates these disruptions value the airline some $500 million and mentioned it can search compensation from CrowdStrike and Microsoft.

Nevertheless, Bastian mentioned within the memo Friday that Spanos advised him earlier in the summertime that he was “contemplating alternatives outdoors of Delta.”

Delta would not plan to interchange Spanos, Bastian mentioned. As an alternative, John Laughter, chief of operations and president of Delta’s TechOps upkeep and overhaul unit, and Allison Ausband, chief buyer expertise officer, will report back to Bastian.

Spanos joined Delta in Might 2023 and beforehand held the function of CEO at Six Flags Entertainment and govt positions at PepsiCo.
